my new challenge: do better than this...

yes! this is the new tv commercial for Guinness premium beer.
with AMV BBDO signature.

" "Tipping point" was directed by Nicolai Fugslig, the man behind the camera for Sony Bravia's "Balls" commercial."

"(...) spectacle set in a rural Argentinian village."

"Apparently this is the most most expensive TV ad ever costing £10m!!"

(f****** hell!)

the concept is not new - "Wieden & Kennedy's work Cog for Honda, which featured a succession of car parts bumping a Honda Accord into motion." this fact, made me feel disappointed a little bit, but i still think it's a brilliant commercial, although £10m is TOO MUCH! (plus the £3m spent on mr t's snickers commercial...)

i'm going to write a book

yes. i'm not mad. i decided to write a book after watch "Les Misérables" last night.
not a book about my life (you wish), but some kind of 'epic romance'.

there's some historic events in my mind that i would like to recreate, but i have not decided yet. but the portuguese revolution of 1974 seems to me a great starting point.

the "Carnation Revolution"of 1974 is going to be the background! what do you think?

i'm not quite sure, but i think my father was in Guinea-Bissau when the revolution took place in Lisbon on the 25th April 1974. so, my father seems to me an ideal main character.

well, i think here i've got the 'seeds' for my first piece. i'm going to write it in portuguese, of course. i won't be able to write it in english as it wouldn't "sound" the way i want. it's still hard for me to express myself the way i want in english.

wish me good luck!

quarta-feira, 6 de junho de 2007

another epic movie. another movie of my life.

"Les Misérables" is based on Victor Hugo's classic novel and it put on screen an "epic tale of love, honour and obsession against the dramatic background of the French Revolution".

the DVD was forgotten in the house... and its french title got my attention.
then i was thrilled with the fact of Liam Neeson ("Schindler's List") co-staring with Uma Thurman ("Pulp Fiction", "Kill Bill") in this "scorching epic".
the combination couldn't be better.

i totally recommend it.

the best lesson you can get for life: the importance of forgiveness.
no matter what.

mad bra? good night and have "sweet" dreams!

what a clever idea!
it's definitely a man's idea! lol

monkey business

enjoy the "Bananageddon".
clearly one candidate for an award?
do you reckon?

your skin is amazing

it's just great!

dream too

it makes me dream as well. what about you? COMMENTS!

first step

This was my first outcome for the Empire Cinemas brief. i tried to be funny. it was based on Fonzie from Happy Days - an American television sitcom.

everybody in class loved it, but my teachers didn't...

it was hard work for me. because it was the first brief and i wanted to cause a good impression...

having young people as a strong target, i thought an "unusual" situation would get their attention straightaway! and with that make them pop in the cinema rooms... (silly billy)
also we had to have in mind it was an advert for a poster.

the idea was this one! leave your comment. and if you have any idea to get people into the cinema during midweek afternoons just tell me! thanks

if moon was cookie

the reason why i love the Cookie Monster is because

it's a bit like me: dreamer & mad
plus it's blue
plus it reminds me my childhood...

i loved it! do you?

Male Restroom Etiquette

For the PEACE in world...

BomChickaWahwah

now see the banned tv commercial

LOL

Lily Lily Lily

Lily Allen changed schools 13 times during her childhood and was expelled from several of them.

(caso para dizer: Ganda Maluuuca! lol)

When asked about it on the Jo Whiley show on BBC Radio 1 , she explained

"Education is great for some people, but for me it just wasn't."

Lily is a BRIT Award nominated English singer-songwriter. She was accused by some of cultivating a CHAV image. (if you don't know what a chav is, Little Britain's Vikki Pollard is such a great female specie).

Lily Allen is also famous for her multiple controversies.

She has called Bob Geldof a "cunt" and a "sanctimonious prat" and has claimed that Kylie Minogue performing at the Glastonbury Festival would be the ultimate insult to the event. She also said that everyone that bought Paris Hilton 's debut album should be killed off. AND SO ON...

shallow or annoying? u tell me

"it's not over yet", Klaxons

Portugal em 'estado de graça'

"(...) Portugal não se deveria reduzir ao fado e à nostalgia. E está na altura de os portugueses mudarem o seu destino."

by Sara Peres (in cadernosdejornalismo)

Toca a escrever!

When I grow up I want to work in a Big Advertising Agency & drive a Rolls-Royce! What about you?

Creative or not, I like the visuals... What do you think? Are the brazilians doing a good job or not?

himself

Salvador Dalí is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the 20th century.

During his lifetime the public got a picture of an excentric paranoid. His personality caused a lot of controversy. Throughout his life he cultivated eccentricity and exhibitionism (one of his most famous acts was appearing in a diving suit at the opening of the London Surrealist exhibition in 1936), claiming that it was the source of his creative energy.

"He described his pictures as "hand-painted dream photographs" and had certain favorite and recurring images, such as the human figure with half-open drawers protruding from it, burning giraffes, and watches bent and flowing as if made from melting wax (The Persistence of Memory, MOMA, New York; 1931)."

In 1937, Dalí visited Italy and adopted a more traditional style. This together with his political views (he was a supporter of General Franco) led Breton to expel him from the Surrealist ranks.

He moved to the USA in 1940 and remained there until 1955. During this time, he devoted himself largely to self-publicity. His paints were often on religious themes (The Crucifixion of St John of the Cross, Glasgow Art Gallery, 1951). Although, sexual subjects and pictures centring on his wife Gala were also continuing preoccupations. in 1955, he returned to Spain and in old age became a recluse.

Apart from painting, Dalí's output included sculpture, book illustration, jewellery design, and work for the theatre. In collaboration with the director Luis Buñuel he also made the first Surrealist films - Un chien andalou (1929) and (1930) - and he contributed a dream sequence to Alfred Hitchcock's L'Age d'orSpellbound (1945). He also wrote a novel, Hidden Faces (1944) and several volumes of flamboyant autobiography.

He is undoubtedly one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. Even though, many critics consider that he did little if anything of consequence after his classic Surrealist works of the 1930s. As a matter of fact, there are museums devoted to Dalí's work in Figueras, his home town in Spain, and in St. Petersburg in Florida.

For all this, and much more, I want to leave here my tribute to this magnificent person and artist of all time. Thank you very much, Salvador Dalí!

Abadia

undoubtly the best tv commercial i've seen during my Easter holiday in Portugal. even though, i still believe they don't know the meaning of TOO MUCH! i can tell you by the money spent on this "hollywoodish" production - €10m.

Super Bock Abadia is the first beer produced in Portugal using the traditional recipe. it is characterized by a rich aroma, stronger and embodied, fruited and alive, with a smooth and comforting taste and the most intense colour due to the use of special varieties of malte.

the creative concept of Super Bock Abadia’s packaging takes us to an ancestral environment, keeping the identity of the lettering – in red – over the rosette of Leça do Balio’ Monastery, now with a stylised, simplified, more modern and dynamic image.

i totally recommend it!

movies are made to be seen

this french tv commercial is certainly a good laugh! it is for me anyway.

movies are made to be seen

i'm sure this March of the Penguins is a must seen.

if not, read this: "with short steps, bent under the pitiless burden of a driving snowstorm, the emperor penguin labours through a vast labyrinth of ice. around him, all is white, all is in violent flux. yet the valiant bird never falters, undaunted by seemingly insurmountable obstacles. he keeps going. in this land where no other creature ventures, the emperor continues on to his romantic rendezvous. as it follows the winter migration of the emperor penguin, March of the Penguins tells a tale of legendary proportions, portraying the strange, spectacular destiny of powerful and emotionally-involving characters, rich in courage and humour, mystery and manifest drama."

as lágrimas deles explicam tudo o resto!

aqui fica a minha homenagem e o meu muito obrigado.

a Portugal!

TOMEM BEM CONTA DELE!

jumbo sinfonia

finalmente o dito cujo anúncio. ó jaime é mesmo estúpido...

el laberinto del fauno

this film is a 'masterpice'!

it won this years' BAFTA film award for best film not in the english language (on this category was "Volver", one of my favourites).

it mixes two things i love in movies: historical events and fantasy

this is a story that have 'broken' my heart.

this is the story about a young girl. a young girl who lives in an imaginary world of her own creation. the way she found to survive and face the harsh reality of a fascist Spain of 1944.

this movie gives a lesson to the grown ups.

it teaches us how children survive in the real world, to which they are not prepared for. and how adults have forgotten the ability for fantasy, devaluated its meaning and still missing its 'power'
